Welcome to The Velveteen Raccoon

The Velveteen Raccoon is written by Chad Andrew Dryden from the leafy green nowhere in between Akron and Cleveland. A record store owner, former journalist and Ohio University graduate, Dryden conceived The Suburban Abyss blog and podcast after moving back to his place of birth in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.

From this strange perch Dryden writes about his experiences with reconnecting, disconnecting, music, pop culture and the strangeness of being anything at all. Also there's some poetry, which you will find here among other fragments and fully-formed nonfiction.
